Oklahoma banned the box for state government jobs only, so a private employer here can still ask on the application.
Private employers Government jobs only The 2016 executive order removed the conviction question from state agency applications and a 2019 order kept it in place. It reaches nothing else, and no Oklahoma city ordinance reaches private employers. Expungement is your lever and it is getting easier: once a record is expunged you may lawfully deny it ever happened, and a 2026 law builds automatic clean slate sealing, with the state bureau portal due in late 2026 and automatic identification of eligible records starting November 2027.
