The register is published and maintained by The Discoverability Company, a marketing and online reputation firm that is itself a second-chance employer. TDC funds and operates the register as a public resource. There is no charge to be listed, no paid placement, and no advertising.

Listings are reviewed by a person before they publish, and verified annually. If an employer's practices change, the record changes.

Being listed is not an endorsement of an employer generally, and appearing in the register does not mean any particular applicant will be hired.

Most employers never say what happens to an application from a person with a record. Job seekers need to know where a record is not an automatic no.

Employers who hire fairly deserve a way to say so that carries weight, a dated, verified record with a number, not a slogan on a careers page.
