Mississippi has no state law limiting when a private employer can ask about your record.
Private employers There is no statewide ban the box for private or public hiring and no Mississippi city ordinance that reaches private employers. Ban the box bills died in committee in 2025 and again in 2026. Expungement is the only lever, and it comes with a catch worth knowing: you may lawfully deny the expunged conviction, but Mississippi law still lets the employer ask whether you have ever had an expunction.
