Private employers Government jobs only State law bars public agencies and licensing boards from disqualifying you over a conviction unless it directly relates to the job, and Kentucky has been strengthening that side steadily, adding a binding pre-application determination process in April 2026 and amending the core test in July 2026. None of it reaches private employers. Louisville Metro covers Metro government and its vendors, and Lexington has nothing. Expungement is your route with a private employer, and Kentucky law says you do not have to disclose an expunged record on a job application.
