What the law gives you in Idaho

Idaho has no state law limiting when a private employer can ask about your record.

Private employers No state law There is no statewide ban the box for private or public hiring and no Idaho city ordinance reaching private employers. The state personnel department has a background check policy that says checks should come after a conditional offer where feasible, but state law provides that such policies do not have the force and effect of law, so it binds nobody. Idaho also has no general adult expungement: a dismissal restores your civil rights but does not seal the record. Federal law is your only floor, meaning a copy of the report and time to dispute it before you are turned down. No state fair chance hiring law.
